French Press Brewing Guide

Learn how to make rich and full-bodied coffee with a French press.

French press brewing is one of the simplest ways to prepare coffee at home.

Start with a coarse grind and use hot water just below boiling.

A common starting ratio is around 1 gram of coffee for every 15–17 grams of water.

Add the water, gently stir and allow the coffee to steep for approximately four minutes.

Press the plunger slowly and serve immediately.

Because French press brewing does not use a paper filter, more coffee oils and fine particles remain in the cup, producing a fuller body.
